Current Research

My research focuses mainly on relevant areas of herbal medicines development in Ghana, including standardization, monograph development and ethnobotany. I work on bioactivity guided and mutagenic investigations, as well as antimicrobial, wound healing, and anti-helminthic activity investigations. Projects successfully undertaken include:

  • Ethnobotanical survey of commonly sold medicinal plant materials at major markets in Accra and investigations into their mutagenic activities.
  • Analytical workflows to support monograph development and insights into the molecular mechanisms of anthelmintic proanthocyanidins from Ghanaian medicinal plants.
  • Quality control of commonly used crude drugs in Ghana.
  • Wound healing activities of Ghanaian medicinal plants on skin cells
