At the postgraduate level, our MPhil programme provides training designed to equip students with the skills and expertise needed for professional practice and research in the natural products sector.

The department undertakes impactful and collaborative research with a focus on ethnobotany, quality assessment of herbal products, pharmacological validation, and bioassay-guided isolation of plant phytoconstituents. Faculty members bring diverse research expertise and maintain active collaborations both locally and internationally. The department continues to welcome partnerships with institutions and individuals who share similar interests in natural product research and development.

In addition to its teaching and research activities, the department partners with industry stakeholders by organizing training programs for practitioners and manufacturers of herbal medicine, providing capacity-building support to strengthen the sector. The department also offers product analysis services for individuals and herbal associations, contributing to the assurance of safety and quality of herbal products on the market.

Through its teaching, research, and community partnerships, the Department of Pharmacognosy and Herbal Medicine continues to uphold its mandate of advancing knowledge and practice in natural product sciences while contributing to national health priorities and global scientific discourse.
